Geothermal System - No Cooling

If your geothermal cooling system isn’t working properly, try these troubleshooting steps before calling for service.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Check the Thermostat Settings: Ensure the system is set to COOL or AUTO, and the temperature is set lower than the current room temperature.
  • Lower the Thermostat Temperature: Set the thermostat to its lowest setting and see if the system turns on.
  • Check Airflow: If airflow from the vents is weak, inspect the air filter. A dirty filter can block airflow and reduce cooling efficiency.
  • Ensure Registers Are Open: Make sure all vents and registers are open and free from obstructions to allow proper airflow.
  • Verify Power Supply: Ensure the power disconnect switch for both the indoor and outdoor units is turned on.
  • Inspect Circuit Breakers: Check the electrical panel for any tripped breakers related to the geothermal system and reset them if needed.
