Gas Boiler - No Heating

If your gas boiler is not producing heat, follow these troubleshooting steps to identify and possibly resolve the issue before calling for professional service.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Check the Thermostat: Ensure the temperature is set above the current room temperature and the system switch is on HEAT or AUTO mode.
  • Raise the Temperature: Try setting the thermostat to a higher temperature to see if the boiler activates.
  • Inspect Power Supply: Check the power disconnect switch near the boiler and verify that it is turned on.
  • Check the Circuit Breaker: Inspect the fuse or breaker at the electrical panel to ensure it hasn’t tripped. Reset if necessary.
  • Verify Fuel Supply: If your system runs on fuel oil, ensure there is an adequate supply. For gas boilers, make sure the gas control valve is open.
  • Check the Pilot Light: If your boiler has a standing pilot light, verify that it is lit. If your system has an electronic ignition, check for error codes or flashing indicator lights.
